Jorge Ben performed on the beach in Rio as part of Live Earth. Of all the musicians who came to prominence in the 1960's, Jorge Ben has always seemed to be the one to whom music-making came easiest. Feted by the Bossa crowd, the Tropicalia crowd and even the rock musicians of the Jovem Guarda, Ben has always stood outside all those movements while being able to move freely between all of them. Because of technical problems in Tokyo, the smokin Linkin Park set went long. That made Rihanna run late. WorldSpace Channel 204 was scheduled to switch to the Shakira set at 0800 am ET...but we don't want to leave Rihanna yet.. We'lll stay with the Rihanna show until it is finished...then play the Shakira performance on a recorded delay. That way you'll get to hear it all!

The Live Earth Sydney concert has begun. It kicked off with a group of native dancers...several video presentations...and now Blue King Brown is on stage. Underscored by the fiery vocals and political lyrics of Natalie Paapaa, you can hear the afro-beat, reggae, world and Latin influence, but the band has created a distinctly original sound. A refreshing take on roots music, uniquely Australian yet with an unquestionable international feel.

Live Earth adds concert in Washington DC

Live Earth added another concert to the line-up today. Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Native American artists (like Blues Nation) will perform in Washington D.C. on 7-7-07 at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. It's tentatively scheduled for 10:30 am (EDT), including a celebratory sunrise drumming and remarks by Al Gore. Watch Al Gore's announcement from earlier today...
